Happy Scrappy Owl - Finished!
It all started back at the beginning of March with a ridiculous amount of pink fabrics. I whipped through the actual quilt top in no time. Then it got folded up to sit in the corner and linger while I discovered other patterns and of course, paper piecing.
And you know the silly thing? It took less than one day to baste, quilt and bind it. All that waiting, for what?! I did get stuck deciding on a back. I thought about a nice scrappy pieced back using all those pinks. While hunting through my fabric stash though, I discovered a large piece of wide tone-on-tone white fabric. Quick backing anyone?
The quilting decision was easy. The pattern is by Boo Davis and she favours diagonal straight line quilting. So out came the sticky tape and away I went. This quilt used an entire roll of sticky tape. Time to buy shares in a sticky tape company if I keep this up. You can see I had a little help with this quilt.
In a nearly 2 year old's world, it's incredibly satisfying to be able to be destructive and have Mummy not only give permission, but applaud!
So final size of this quilt - around 55" x 85". Great for a single bed, but it fits a King Single in a pinch (see below).
I'm very happy with this quilt. It tested my matchy-matchy side and turned out quite nicely despite a gazillion pinks being mixed in together somewhat haphhazardly. I think the played nicely though and make for a cute quilt. Oh and I can tick something off my WiP list. That makes me happy.
Linking up with TGIFF - this week it's being hosted by Laura at Quokka Quilts.
